How My Love Triangle with Ben and Jerry Got Busted + Big News!

I am often asked about my personal victories and failures along the road to success.
My training as an Olympic gymnast shaped me to be persistent, determined and resilient to the nth degree -all good things. But that same background made me extremely wound up, chronically exhausted and often lonely – as in, years of no one but Ben and Jerry in the bedroom. (Frisky, yes, but in an ironic way!) Years after choosing not to get back on the bus and return to Ukraine, I boarded a dilapidated Greyhound and rode across country to Boulder, Colorado. I was on my way to attend Naropa University – a college founded by a renowned Tibetan monk. The experience stretched my mind and my heart immeasurably. I moved from a life of go, go, go to allowing, receiving and asking for help.

What a reality flip-flop!

Fast forward to 2010: I walked away from my booming Raw Food consulting biz of three years to answer my calling to write a book and speak on the stage. (My love triangle with Ben and Jerry was officially busted when my Hot Monogamy Manifesto came on the scene!) It was at a seminar for speakers that year that I met bestselling author Gail McMeekin. She was impressed by the fact that I had taken bold risks in my personal life to become who I am today by starting over from scratch – multiple times!

How has your Summer been? Have you had a vacation yet?!

Last week Vladi and I went camping on the Yuba River to celebrate our 4- year anniversary. In part it’s because of Vladi that I am as healthy and knowledgeable about live food as I am today. Three years ago Vladi had kindly requested I do something about my mood swings to ensure the marriage lasts. (imagine that – sweet innocent me?) As a long time vegetarian and a meditation practitioner I had already successfully reversed my Bipolar disorder, severe Bulimia, and 40 lbs of extra weight. So I knew I could go a step farther and cleanse my nervous system of the toxins that were still affecting my behavior and my marriage. The other option was to go back on Prozac or find another husband. But I would still be full of sh*t, if you know what Imean. So cleansing and purification it is I said!

Periodic Purification has become our lifestyle, just like changing the oil in your car to ensure it runs smoothly. During the week on the Yuba River we swam in the cool pools, laid out on the hot boulders, ate mostly watermelons and fruit all day and took naps. Nothing like a rest to give you a fresh perspective on your life. Where you are now, where you really want to be, and how you are going to get there. So I realized what I really want is to inspire you tremendously! To teach you how easy and affordable it is to be in your optimum power physically, mentally and spiritually.
